H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn grants audience to students/academicians/researchers selected to participate in the summer program at CERN, DESY, GSI and IceCube Astrophysics Center for the year 2022

      28 May 2022: At Meeting room, 1st floor, Royal Library Building, Srapathum Palace, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted a royal audience to Prof. Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, the Member of the Executive Board and Secretary General of the Information Technology Foundation under the Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (PSIT), and students/academicians/researchers selected to participate in the summer program at CERN, DESY, GSI and IceCube Astrophysics Center for the year 2022, along with agency executives, before departing to participate in the said programs.

      These leading institutes, CERN/DESY/GSI/IceCube Neutrino Observatory, has presented a number of scholarships to Her Royal Highness to give to secondary school students, Physics teachers, students studying in physics, science and engineering to participate in the summer program every year.  In selecting the scholarship awardees, PSIT works with various agencies, including: the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the Synchrotron Light Research Institute SLRI), the National Astronomical Research Institute (Public Organization) (NARIT), Chiang Mai University, to preliminary screen and interview the applicants, and Her Royal Highness made the final decision on selecting Thai participants.

      For the year 2022, a total of 26 scholarship awardees were selected to participate in those programs as follows: (1) secondary school students and teachers going on a study trip to CERN, number 14 persons (2) CERN summer students, 4 persons (3) CERN summer physics teachers, 2 persons (4) DESY summer students, 2 persons (5) GSI summer students 2 persons and (6) Ice Cube summer students 2 persons. In addition, there are three researchers from the Ice Cube Cooperation Project on Research Manpower Development who will travel with the students, making a total of  29 people, as follows:
